Renegade #4 and Barona's Top 10 List

The 4th round of the Renegade rocked Barona 1/8th Mile Dragstrip, and it was a star showing for last years Renegade Electronic and Renegade Non-E runner-up, RJ Simrock, sweeping both categories last Saturday.
In the Renegade Non-E bracket, it came down to RJ lining up against Dan Schrokosch, both of them bringing their 1970 Novas to the showdown, RJ's being faster, his 6.47 dial giving Dan over a second head start with his 7.66 dial. But RJ would be catching up sooner then expected, Dan getting off the line 37 thousandths after the green light, while RJ nailed the tree, being only one thousandth of a second off from a perfect light. This would push both drivers to push, as RJ closed in on, and surpassed Dan across the line, but he went a hair too fast, his E/T of 6.468 seconds breaking RJ out two thousandths too fast of his dial. However, with how much he was pushing Dan, especially with over 3 hundredths of a second of a "head start" off the line, Dan pushed his car to break out too, his 7.627 E/T over 3 hundredths of a second under his dial, breaking him out even farther then RJ, and giving RJ the win.
In the Renegade Electronics bracket, RJ's 1970 Nova would line up against another Dan, Dan Geis' 1964 Nova. The two were more evenly matched this time, with RJ getting a small head start with his 6.47 dial compared to Dan's 6.17. He'd still get the faster reaction time, his .054 edging out Dan's .091 start. RJ would push this Dan to his limits too, RJ keeping close to his 6.47 dial with a 6.483 E/T, pushing Dan Geis to his 6.17 dial... and under it, as he finishes with a 6.152 E/T, breaking out and giving RJ the other half of the Renegade Sweep.

Also running alongside the Renegade series was the Gambler, which came down to the cars of Todd Ferguson and Lee Sweiter. Lee's 1992 Mustang would go first with it's 6.51 dial, just barely head of Todd's 1964 Falcon, with it's 6.33 dial. Lee would be slower off the line, though, his .111 R/T over twice that of Todd's .048, and that advantage would be the difference, as Lee was closer to his 6.51 dial with his 6.548 E/T, but with Todd finishing with a 6.394 on a 6.33, it wouldn't be enough to overcome the difference at the tree, as Todd takes the Gambler win.
